Nobody becomes a success overnight. It's those long hours spent working towards a dream that, more often than not, go unnoticed. But it's not just hard work that gets you right up there, in front of the public eye. Even a donkey can work hard, but that doesn't mean it works smart. Here are some really important life skills every successful person has in life, and something we should follow if we ever want to be anywhere close to our idols
.

1. Taking feedback

We know it's not always easy to take feedback. In fact, it's in every Indian's personality to refuse any ownership of the mistakes they make. What we fail to realise is that the other person is only trying to help us out. The best way to work around this is to put your emotions aside while being spoken to, and try to only focus on the information that is being presented. Whether the information is right or not, should be decided by your mind, and not your ego.

2. Recovering from failure

If we don't fall, how will we ever learn to stand up again? Easier said than done, but one needs to pick oneself up, and move on. Every failure should be a learning experience. It should teach at least one thing that you shouldn't do the next time round. If we are able to recognise that, it'll only makes us stronger, and give an insight as to why we were failing all this while.

3. Apologising sincerely

Saying 'sorry' sometimes becomes the hardest thing to do. While most of us try and avoid the situation, all of us know it is the right thing. An apology holds for nothing if it isn't sincere. Be sincere when you're apologising to someone. Ask them why they felt bad, and tell them that it'll never happen again.

4. Saying 'Thank You'

The people who are there around you are there because they care for you in some measure or the other. They support you, and help you make your life a better place to live in. No matter how much of a 'lone wolf' you think you are, or act like, no one can survive on their own, so be gracious and generous in your thank yous.

5. Prioritising

Take a deep breath, and realise what's important for you. If you really think preparing for that meeting is more important than having dinner with your family, then do so. If family's more important, then shut that laptop and go spend time with them. Make sure you give your 100% no matter what. Doing one thing while thinking about the other will not only give you a major fear of missing out, but you're also more likely to not do what you're doing properly. List out your priorities, make a plan for them, execute. Simple advice but definitely not easy. Everyone messes it up from time to time.

6. Learning how to adapt to things

Whoever said 'Change is the only constant', couldn't have phrased it any better. The beauty of life is that it's always changing. People, things, moments, emotions, everything keeps evolving constantly, and it is upon us to learn how to adapt to things. Being on your toes and being ready for change is perhaps one of the most important things in life.
leveltalk.files.wordpress.com

7. Be curious

One should never stop learning in their lives. It's one of the few things that remain constant. Right from the time we are born, to when it's time to shut our eyes for good, we are learning. The internet has only added fuel to this fire of curiosity in humans. You should always have the 'want' to learn something new. The smallest of DIY hacks could make a difference someday, who knows. Never undermine the importance of the things you learnt. Try to consciously say YES to things that are unknown. Just don't get yourself into trouble though.

8. Saying 'NO' when you should is equally important.

Yes, there are times and places where we think of saying 'no', and it's perfectly fine to do so. A 'no' can be helpful in saving you time, confusion, guilt, attachments, including other social evils. If you don't feel a hundred percent about something, don't do it. Be honest with yourself, and say 'no' when you feel like it.

9. Empathy

Now this is something a lot of people across the world need. Everyone is not like you, or living the life you're living. In fact, no one is like you, or living the life you're living. Their mindset, their moods, their situations, and their expectations might be totally different from yours. Don't judge them; empathise with them. We are so fond of jumping to conclusions, and giving solutions, but have we actually heard the other person out? Do we really know what the real problem is? Learning to empathise with people in your own sphere of life will make you successful, and a favourite for people you get in touch with.

10. Unlearning

Very difficult to actually practice in real life, but definitely worth giving it a try every time we are in a sticky situation. Unknowingly, we all harbour feelings for people we come in contact with. Based on these feelings, we react to different situations, differently. To assess a scenario perfectly, we must learn to detach ourselves from the person , and try to look at things a little more objectively. Again, very difficult, but must practice.

11. Teamwork

Every successful person will tell you how important teamwork really is in the road to success. It's only so far that one can go on their own; you need help from others if you want to become the best in life. Messi didn't become football's greatest without the help of others. He needs ten other footballers on his side every week to put up a show for the world to enjoy. Even when it comes to personal life, your teamwork with your partner determines how successful your relationship will become.

12. Flexibility

No, not literally. However, if you are literally very flexible, it will not cease to amaze the people you know. But we are talking about mental flexibility here. The flexibility to have a mind strong enough that'll allow you to make spontaneous decisions. Let your gut feeling take over from time to time, if you know what I mean. It will lead you to the right place.

13. Humility

Not assuming the other person knows less than you do, or that you know much more than the other person. Treat everyone as equal, and never think that you know better than others, because it'll hit you back in the face. True story, bro!
tumblr

14. Anger management

We all talk about achieving nirvana, but how many of us are actually trying? The moment we get into the car, and get stuck in that inevitable traffic jam, nirvana goes right out the window, doesn't it? In fact, it's the best way to keep your anger in check - the next time you get stuck in a traffic jam, try making it through without shouting, cursing, changing your lanes, or honking a million times. Trust me, by the time you get out of it, you'll be a much happier person.

15. Be decisive

Uncertainty can lead you to a lot of uncomfortable situations, if not trouble. From something as simple as not knowing what to eat for lunch, to not knowing what to do next in life, could be a pain (of varying levels of course). Be decisive, know what you want. Even if it's the wrong decision, you'll at least be sure to not repeat it the next time around. Make a decision, and stick to it.

16. Respect

The most important rule of all. Respect people. It doesn't matter who they are, how old they are, which place they come from, or what they believe in. Treat others how you want them to treat you. Respect others for they will respect you.

These images from limitless, show you what is hidden behind so many pictures, the art to capture can show you so many different sides of the same thing... It is comletely upon what you want to see and what you want to ignore....

On 11th of October, 2012 Salvatore Calabrese, broke the record for the costliest cocktail ever made, here is the complete story for you....

What could go wrong? Well, Salvatore attempted the world record in July, but calamity struck: the bottle of 1778 Clos de Griffier Vieux Cognac, worth around £50,000, was dropped. 'When something gets smashed in a bar it's normally cleaned up straight away,' he says. 'But in this case everyone just stood looking at the puddle for 10 minutes. Should we try to sponge it up and filter the liquid? We mopped it up in the end; funnily enough, the bartender who cleaned it away was stopped by police on his way home and asked if he'd been drinking.'

Salvatore Calabrese

The remains of that bottle are now behind glass in the 'museum cabinet' at Salvatore's Bar, containing more than £1 million worth of vintage cognacs. For today's attempt, however, he managed to find a replacement bottle, as well as a 1770 bottle of Kummel liquer, an 1860 Dubb Orange Curacao and a tiny bottle of 19th-century Angostura bitters.

For as well as being the most expensive single drink in history, Salvatore's record-breaking cocktail will also be the oldest, with a combined age of 730 years. Two of the bottles here are from the time of the American Revolution, of Captain Cook and Marie Antoinette. William Wordsworth was born in 1770. Today is an event of almost archaeological importance. Indeed, Salvatore tackles the wax seal on the first bottle with all the sensitivity of a Bronze Age tomb excavation. There's several minutes of silence as he struggles, in front of an audience of bar regulars, friends and fellow bartenders, using a heated knife to loose the cork… and it's out. After all four bottles are opened, Salvatore tastes a thimbleful of each, 'to see if the drink is still alive and can be used'. The verdict? 'Mamma Mia!'

For the attempt, during London's Cocktail Week, he uses a 100-year-old bottle opener, the first mixing glass he ever used, given to him 40 years ago, and a rare, 19th-century glass. The ice is not vintage, but 'wonderfully pure'. 'Salvatore's Legacy' is mixed and stirred, sampled by its inventor, then handed to a man in the corner to drink. For the attempt to be verified by the Guinness Book of Records, the cocktail has to be actually bought by someone. The unnamed guest will be given a bill for £5,500. For a single drink.

And so the world record is broken and held by the UK. For the past four years it has been held by Dubai, for a £3,766.52 cocktail made at the Burj Al Arab hotel. Should you feel like taking another title, Dubai still holds the record for the biggest kebab (468kg), the largest coin (a metre wide) and the longest line of sandwiches (2,667.13 metres). Or you may want to wash your hands of the whole thing. But Dubai holds the record for that - for 72 different nationalities washing their hands at the same time.

We’ve all been there and done that. And what starts off as a great night with friends and colleagues ends up in a disaster. If you wake up next morning with not only a hangover but also the question ‘did-i-do-that’, then here are a few tips that will ensure that you don’t go overboard while having a good time.

Find your way home

Last things first. While the night might take all sorts of twists and turns always plan ahead and know how are you getting home. Is there are teetotaler in your group of friends who can drive, are you calling a cab or is someone picking you up? Decide this before you start to make sure that you reach home safe and wake up next day with happy memories and all of your belongings.

Don’t stay hungry

One of the most common mistakes is starting the party without food. While we are all tempted to hit the bar first, food is where you should start. Eating before and during drinking ensures that alcohol gets absorbed slowly. If you drink on an empty stomach, you will get drunk faster, which means an early night or embarrassing behavior.

Source

Don't mix drinks

While people debate if mixing two types of alcohol actually does cause quicker intoxication and sickness, it is fact that mixing (two or more types) liquor might make you consume more alcohol than you would if you stick to just one type. If you drink more, you are obviously likely to get more inebriated. So pick one type and stick to it for the night.

Be a cautious explorer

Think of yourself as an experimenter? Love trying out different cocktails and liquors? Though all of this sounds very exciting, fact is cocktails contain different kinds of ingredient and liquors. And above all, most of them taste delicious. If you are ordering a cocktail or new type of alcohol, enquire about it. Get to know how many types of alcohol are in it, what are the ingredients and alcohol percentage. Accordingly, decide how many of those can you consume.

Tipsy, high or drunk?

Be aware of what level of intoxication are you on. Stop, get a glass of water, hydrate and resume depending on how you feel. Alcohol dehydrates you and also draws vitamins and minerals out of your body. Maintain the balance by drinking one glass of water after one drink. Pace yourself well and enjoy the entire night.

How to Enjoy Scotch Whicky by Mangoloops.blogspot.com

When I was asked to write a guide on how Scotch whisky should be drunk, I was thrilled, to put it mildly. The feeling was akin to swallowing a mouthful of smoky single malt. Pure delight. I have been blessed with a few opportunities to sample some of Scotland’s finest offerings over the years, and have come to appreciate the finer points and subtle nuances of this magical elixir. Yep, I’m not afraid to announce, I’m a little bit of a whisky snob.

Scotch Whisky in itself, is a symbol of man’s ever-lasting pursuit of perfection, a representation of the finest that life can offer.

It has been a drink for all occasions. and there always will be contrasting opinions on how Scotch is drunk best. Well, let’s settle it, there’s no right or wrong way, it’s a matter of personal preference. But some methods enhance and elevate tastes and flavours more than others.

Rocks Glass

Let’s start with the glass. Most people, use a rocks glass for Scotch. While this is not a bad choice, the ‘nosing glass’ allows for greater retention of vapours, which enhance the multiple flavour layers in your drink. Another fairly recent innovation is the Glencairn Glass. With its tapered mouth and wide bowl, this design won the 2006 Queen's Award for Innovation!

Glencairn Glass

The next point that everyone seems to disagree on is whether to add ice. While some people are dead against it, some experts recommend adding a couple of ice balls, which melt slower than cubes and will thus water down your Scotch less. Another innovation is ‘whisky stones’. These metal or soapstone cubes retain cold temperatures for long periods of time. Chill in your freezer and then use them to cool your drink without diluting it!

Reusable Steel Chilling Cubes

You’re probably thinking, why are these so-called experts dead against watering down your Scotch? Which brings us to a huge bone of contention - mixers. Soda, cola, juices, and more. It begs the question - why drink Scotch at all if you need to mask the taste?

I, for one, believe that a good Scotch needs just ice. I prefer mine with a splash of cool water, or a single ice-cube, so i can savour the myriad flavours.

A few drops of water melting into your drink helps unfurl the proud battle flag that is the Scotch aroma array. If you sip Scotch neat, a lot of the subtler notes may get shouted down, if you will, by the powerful initial hit of alcohol.

The best way to make sure you don’t end up with too much water in your Scotch,  is to use LARGE ice cubes. This way, you favourite Scotch will chill, with just that caress of cool water, that will ensure that subtle flavour bouquet really blossoms.

Pure, soft spring water, is recommended to enhance the distinctive aroma and flavour of a whisky. Tap water may contain high amounts of chlorine and therefore would hinder the taste bouquet of the Scotch.

Well, that leaves us with the last, most controversial topic yet. Scotch cocktails. Some purists would consider it blasphemous. They’d compare it to mashing up Handel's ‘Hallelujah’ with metchul double-bass blastbeats.

So should you ever mix Scotch?

At the risk of ruffling a few feathers, I say yes. A number of well-crafted cocktails blend the rich flavour palette of various Scotch whiskies with a whole lineup of other ingredients to create some pretty amazing cocktails.

In conclusion, the general consensus regarding Scotch and how it should be drunk is now shifting from an elitist, my-way-or-the-highway attitude towards a more accommodating, open-minded vibe.
Try out a few of our suggestions, see how you enjoy your Scotch best, and stick with that.
In the words of renowned Scottish historian and writer David Daiches, “The proper drinking of Scotch whisky is more than indulgence: it is a toast to civilization, a tribute to the continuity of culture, a manifesto of man’s determination to use the resources of nature to refresh mind and body and enjoy to the full the senses with which he has been endowed.”

So go ahead, indulge yourself with your favourite Scotch, and raise a toast to all the good things in life.

Love the thrills and the chills? We've got just the thing for you! Take a look at these thrillers you have to watch at least once in your life.

1. Kahaani

kahaani
For those who missed this film, go watch it right away. It is the story of a pregnant woman who comes to India from London, in search of her husband, who nobody has seen. The climax of this film is so nicely done that you’ll be forced to applaud Sujoy Ghosh. With superb acting from Vidya Balan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, this film is definitely one of the best Hindi films.

2. Talaash

talaash
A cop, heartbroken because of his son’s death, investigates the death of a film star. During his investigation, he meets a sex worker who no one else seems to see. All these people are connected in a strange way which is ultimately revealed. Definitely a film to watch and one that will definitely mess with your head for a while.

3. Gupt

Gupt
Governor Sinha is murdered and somehow, his son ( Bobby Deol) is the main suspect. Nicely blended with a love triangle, this is a film you would want to finish. This film was released in 1997 and was a commercial success with its music earning critical praise.

4. Karthik Calling Karthik

Karthik calling Karthik
mastimovie.net
Sadly this film is known more for its songs and less for being a thriller. Karthik, a regular boy with a boring life starts receiving random calls from someone. The person on the other side of the phone resembles him and starts helping out Karthik with his existential crisis. But who is calling Karthik?

5. Kaun

kaun movie screengrab
Directed by Ram Gopal Verma, Kaun is surprisingly a no-nonsense film. A woman is watching the news about a serial killer running loose, when the door bell rings. The film is considered one of the best thrillers in Bollywood, especially because it had only 3 characters. We are not surprised that it was written by Anurag Kashyap.

6. The Butterfly Effect

Butterfly effect
There is a rare possibility that you will understand this film in the first go. Nevertheless, the story is about a guy who blocks harmful memories from his mind. He finds a way to remember those memories and change his life in supernatural ways. The concept is evolved from the chaos theory and this film will leave you thinking.

7. Gone Girl

Gone Girl
An adaptation of the 2012 novel by Gillian Flynn, the film was absolutely mind blowing. On the 5th anniversary of Nick and Amy, Amy goes missing. This causes extensive media coverage and suspicions arise, leading to Nick being a suspect. You need to watch it to find out what happens next.

8. Memento

Memento
This is a Christopher Nolan movie, which gives you a good enough reason to not skip it. This film was loosely based on Nolan’s younger brother, Jonathan Nolan’s short story Memento Mori. A man finds out a strange way to remember things so he can knock down his wife’s murder without his short term memory loss coming in the way.

9. Source Code

source code
A U.S. Aviation pilot finds himself in a commuter train to Chicago. To the world around him, he’s someone else. He figures out that he is a part of a governmental programme to find the bomber of the train he is on and that he has only 8 minutes to do so. Exciting, isn’t it?
